IoDZ Hosts Inaugural Directors Golf Tournament, Celebrates Governance and Leadership

On 21st November, 2024, the Institute of Directors of Zambia (IoDZ) successfully hosted its first-ever Directors Golf Tournament held at State House Presidential Golf Course, drawing over 80 participants from Zambia’s public and private sectors.

The tournament underscored IoDZ’s commitment to promoting corporate governance and fostering strategic partnerships in the country.

The tournament concluded with a prize-giving cocktail that celebrated the collective commitment to good governance and leadership.

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Art Honourable Elvis Nkandu, graced the prize-giving cocktail as the Guest of Honour, representing President Hakainde Hichilema and delivering his message of support for the tournament and its mission to advance corporate governance.

In his message delivered by Honourable Elvis Nkandu, Minister of Youth , Sports and Art, President Hakainde Hichilema commended IoDZ for its role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and integrity in Zambia’s corporate sector.

“The Institute of Directors of Zambia is playing a critical role in raising governance standards, particularly within state-owned enterprises, which are key to our economic growth. I encourage all leaders here to join IoDZ—not just for personal development but as a contribution to Zambia’s progress,” the President said.

He further applauded the Cabinet’s approval of the IoDZ Bill, emphasizing its importance in strengthening the Institute's regulatory framework and governance impact.

IoDZ President Mrs. Mirriam Chiyaba followed with remarks expressing gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and partners.

“This tournament reflects what we can achieve when we come together with a shared vision for leadership and accountability,” she said.

She highlighted the significance of the event venue, the State House Golf Course, as a symbol of the government’s support for corporate governance and leadership development.

The prize giving cocktail also provided an engaging platform for networking among leaders from diverse sectors, while sponsors and organizers were recognized for their contributions to the event's success.

Team Clear Choice emerged as the tournament champion, with Team HLB taking second place, Team IoDZ finishing third, and Client Focus securing fourth.
